While away time at Jewel - Happy Go City

While away time at Jewel

Jewel

Got a layover in Singapore? Luckily, there are plenty of attractions a stone’s throw from Changi airport so we decided to check them out. One of the easiest places to explore is Jewel which is an enormous mall just across the road from Terminal 1.

A waterfall you can’t miss

There is so much to do here that you could easily spend a few days exploring, let alone a few hours. The first stop has to be the gigantic waterfall right in the middle of this huge building – you can’t miss it! It really is spectacular and if you happen to be around in the evening there is often a (rather short) light show.

Tickets at Jewel

Now, obviously you could enjoy the many shops and restaurants situated in the mall but there are also a range of other activities if you know where to look. We chose to have fun at the Canopy Park which is at the very top of the mall. The whole floor is covered in plants and trees along with all sorts of fun things to do which are family friendly. There is a ticket booth on this floor and although it was fairly busy, we got our tickets easily. Or if you’re pressed for time, you can pre-book your tickets here. We selected the basic tickets which were pretty reasonable (SGD8) and gave us access to the gardens, mirror maze, slides and foggy bowls. The kids enjoyed the big slides the most, but we were a bit disappointed to see one of them was out of action. If you have young kids, the Foggy Bowls looked like great fun for them and we saw lots of toddlers running around and chasing the fog.

At the time we went, the gardens were decorated with a Marvel display so we had fun spotting all the Marvel characters as we walked around, exploring all the different parts of the garden.

Lastly, the Mirror Maze made us giggle as we made our way through trying not to bump into each other or get lost. All of these activities were family friendly and it was enjoyable for both the kids and adults alike.

For tweens and teens

If you have older kids or want a bit more of an adrenaline rush the Walking Nets looked like great fun and in sections you could see all the way down to the ground floor of the mall – not if you don’t like heights.

Soon it was time for us to check in for our flight. Conveniently, there is a walkway from the mall to Terminals 2 and 3 as well as a shuttle bus to Terminal 4 so it was super simple to get back to the airport.
