We’ve created this list for you with our favourite destinations. Feel free to add some of your own favourites in the comments at the bottom of this article. Happy browsing and happy traveling!

1. Ancient Siem Reap

Southeast Asia

With such nice food, a laidback atmosphere and so many temples to explore, Siem Reap in Cambodia is one of the best cultural hotspots in Southeast Asia to visit with kids. The town is still quite untouched, and it is nice not to see fast food chains in every corner. Have a look at our post about Siem Reap here.

2. Fascinating Java

The mesmerising island of Java in Indonesia is home to many temples, of which Borobudur is the most well-known and a must-visit for children. You can combine this trip with a visit to some closeby active volcanoes to make it a trip of a lifetime. More here.

3. Charming Bandung

Also located in Java, Indonesia, next to the Tangkuban Perahu mountain on an elevated plateau, Bandung was once called the Paris of Java. Walking through the old part of town which was once lined with trendy boutiques and high fashion stores, you’ll understand why this nickname suits Bandung so well. Except for great Sundanese food, families will love Bandung for its rich culture, its nature, and the many factory outlets. Let’s go! More info here in our article.

4. Peaceful Luang Prabang

Tad Sae Waterfalls

The ancient town of Luang Prabang is situated in northern Laos, which was designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The tiny town which is home to a royal palace, breathtaking waterfalls, no less than 33 wats (temples) and a multitude of monks is encircled by mountains and set at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers. A stunning setting!

Direct flights with Airasia to Luang Prabang are not back yet after the covid pandemic, you still need to change planes in Bangkok. Visiting Luang Prabang is worth it though! Have a look at our article here.

5. Breathtaking Koh Lipe

South East Asia

Have a look at Google maps and zoom in on those little islands just above Langkawi. You will find Koh Lipe, an island still relatively unspoiled by mass tourism. Luckily for us in Malaysia, the Thai island is only an hour’s boat ride from Langkawi, served by many low-cost airlines from KL. A turquoise sea, white sand, massage on the beach and Thai food. What more do you want from a holiday? Have a look at our article here!

6. Surprising Bangkok

Bangkok has got so much to do for families, that it is no surprise that you’ll find cycling here as well, in Bang Krachao. The area is called the Green Lung of Bangkok, and is an oasis of greenery, village life and mangrove forest to give this city-worn family a breath of fresh air. This is where you’ll find bikes for hire! More here about this great place.

7. Beautiful Kanchanaburi

The province of Kanchanaburi in Thailand is north-west of Bangkok and close to the border with Myanmar. Since Kanchanaburi is slightly elevated, it is a bit cooler than in the stuffy capital. Great for glamping! For those unfamiliar with the word ‘glamping’: it’s a combination of the words ‘camping’ and ‘glam’. At Hintok River Camp, your tent is already set up. No need for struggling with tent poles.

This region with its many mountains and caves, steep cliffs, waterfalls and slow meandering rivers make it ideal for walking, canoeing, and mountain biking. More here.

8. Exciting Hoi An

Hoi An

Where to find a place to combine relaxing on a beach with bursts of adventurous activity and delicious food? In Hoi An in Vietnam you can find all three! Please read more here about Hoi An.

9. Amazing Bali

Ubud with kids

What is there not to like about Bali…?! This Indonesian island offers endless options for kids, if you are after an active holiday. Water parks, surfing, and cycling, to mention a few. But you could also bring them for cooking classes, temples, dance performances, and dining on the beach. More here in our article!

10. Pangkor Island Resort

Last but definitely not least, in our own beloved Malaysia, you’ll find pure bliss in the beautiful Pangkor Laut Resort. A 3 hours drive takes you from KL to Lumut, where a boat takes you to a place where dreams come true. We think this place is a must-do, if you can… More info here!
